Welcome to the home of the Southwark Metropolitan Special Constabulary
The London Borough of Southwark is a diverse inner city community
situated south of London Bridge and covering the community areas of Bermondsey, Camberwell, Dulwich, Nunhead, Peckham and Peckham Rye,
Walworth, Borough & Bankside and Rotherhithe.
Southwark has a population of around 240,000 and is is the location
of the oldest Roman remains of the original settlement "Londinium"
dating from around AD50. It also boasts a large number of popular
tourist attractions; Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Tate Modern,
Millennium Bridge and GLA Headquarters. The major and historical
river crossings also pass into Southwark; London Bridge, Tower Bridge,
Blackfriars Bridge, Rotherhithe road tunnel and Brunel's double tunnels
of the the East London Line.
The borough's police stations are located at Peckham, Rotherhithe,
Walworth, East Dulwich and Southwark. The Specials at Southwark are
based out of Southwark Police Station in the north of the borough.
