The London Borough of Southwark is a diverse inner city community situated south of London Bridge and covering the community areas of Bermondsey, Camberwell, Dulwich, Nunhead, Peckham and Peckham Rye, Walworth, Borough & Bankside and Rotherhithe.

Southwark has a population of around 240,000 and is is the location of the oldest Roman remains of the original settlement "Londinium" dating from around AD50.  It also boasts a large number of popular tourist attractions; Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Tate Modern, Millennium Bridge and GLA Headquarters.  The major and historical river crossings also pass into Southwark; London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Blackfriars Bridge, Rotherhithe road tunnel and Brunel's double tunnels of the the East London Line.

The borough's police stations are located at Peckham, Rotherhithe, Walworth, East Dulwich and Southwark. The Specials at Southwark are based out of Southwark Police Station in the north of the borough.

Being a Special Constable is your chance to 'give something back' to your community and it's also a good way of making the most of your spare time. It can be a refreshing alternative to your job or family responsibilities, a source of new experiences and skills, or a way of being part of a team doing something worthwhile.
